African Renewable Energy Distributor (ARED) is a Hardware As A Service (HAAS) company that has developed the best business in a box solar kiosk solution called SHIRIKI HUB for individuals at the low end of the economic spectrum, using the best support and training programs to maximize their chances of success.

ARED’s main activity is primarily to empower disadvantaged communities including women and those with disabilities, through micro entrepreneurship. The company offers key services on the kiosk such as charging services, virtual top ups, and internet/intranet services. Some of the revenues earned are shared between the micro franchisees and ARED.

We develop a low cost business opportunity to empower people at the base of the pyramid using a technology we developed called mobile solar kiosk. A franchisee will be able to generate revenue from the sell of electronic vouchers, mobile money, charging small electronics, sell of cell phones and more.

ARED uses a franchise business model. Our franchisee pays around $800 to manage a Mobile Solar Kiosk. This include: - Training, free maintenance, insurance of the MSK. - A POS system to sell different electronic vouchers - Initial capital for different products and services. Sources of income: - Profit sharing structure / ARED receives 1% of sales. - Sell advertisement space on MSKs. - Sell digital advertisement and charge for digital content using machine to machine technology.

We offer an one stop shop solution for customers at the base of the pyramid. all your telecom needs can be solved using our kiosk, plus the franchisees will be generating multi stream type of revenue to minimize the risk of just depending on one revenue stream.

We plan to have 400 mobile solar kiosks in Rwanda alone, 2 people run the kiosk and right now we have about 30% women franchisees. We plan to Directly impact 800 franchisees in the next 3 years and create over 30 jobs. Our vision is to have 50000 mobile solar kiosks across Africa
