Fair Photo Agency Empowering Females in Bangladesh & Promote Fair Fashion

We believe that the ethics in the fast fashion production is excessively harmful to not only the planet as a whole, but also to the humans making the clothes. When it comes to the supply of garments to western fashion brands, most of the clothes are made by females in Bangladesh under poor working conditions in so called sweatshops (appr 4 million). We believe that this is a modern form of slavery for a high number of people which should not be acceptable.

We want to give ethical job opportunities to a high number of young females in Bangladesh, and hence encourage and help them becoming empowered in the sense that they can choose other life stories. To highlight female talent and encourage an entrepreneurial spirit, is an important moving force to achieve this movement and we want to push this forward by offering them the opportunity to become “Photo Entrepreneurs”.

Our aim is to develop a new digital tool that connects prominent fashion enterprises in the west with a high number of female Bangladeshi photographers. The brands that use our tool incl. our collaboration consulting processes, will be able to communicate their pioneering and genuine movement towards a more ethical garment production.

The framework technology is already coded and live through fairphotoagency.com, which obviously gives this initiative a great head start. Additional code and adjustments is of course needed. The service will fine-tuned together with clients that has expressed an interest.

Revenue

We plan to start by building a community of passionate customers. We have identified one or more revenue streams. We plan to monetise our offering in the next phase.

The business model is to sell “exclusive cooperation rights” in using our workforces including our collaborated organisations for a certain period of time, for example during a campaign, to the highest bidder (ie. fashion enterprises). In addition, we will also use a commission based revenue model of 20% from all images being sold at the platform.

Inclusiveness

We involve low-income groups as producers.

We'll empower a large number of female garment workers in Bangladesh by providing them with photo job opportunities via our platform. They will be able to sell images to fashion enterprises in the west that wishes to make a movement towards an ethical production. The sale of 1 image is equivalent to almost 1 month's salary at a garment factory.

We will be able to measure the impact we are making by learning the number of people (consumers) that are being reached by the images shot by the Bangladeshi females, through various campaigns. This number will be provided by the fashion brand that we are cooperating with. In addition, the number of women photographers being hired for photo jobs is of course easily measured via our own platform. From these numbers you can easily make conclusions which will be used as a base for improvements.
