There is a community living off the landfill collecting recyclable material like plastics for income. We work with them to add value to the waste that is left behind. We train and involve them on how to sort the the waste further in order to provide to us with the bio-gradable waste which we use to make briquettes.

Our revenue is mainly from the sale of the briquettes. We also get some revenue from offering training services for people who are interested in entering the briquettes business. We sell our briquettes in kilogrammes. We have packages and brand to suit the lower end market and the high end market ranging from 1kg to 100kg. We have distribution outlets in major markets but also work with vendors and retailers.

Inclusiveness

We involve low-income groups as employees.

Our objective is to create an impact on cleaning up the environment while improving the quality of life for the community that is living off the landfill collecting mainly plastics and metals by involving them in the value chain of the briquettes production. They earn income as suppliers of the raw material.

We involve low-income groups as employees.

We have empowered women and unemployed youths with the skill to make the char which they are now selling to the company for a fee. At a subsistence level, they also make their briquettes for home consumption. The women in the community have benefited from the value chain by generating income through selling the char, retailing the briquettes, working at the factory, or reducing fuel expenditure in their homes by making their own fuel briquettes.
