Amru Rice (Cambodia) Co., Ltd Catalysing business innovations for development

Potential Business

This project will start with commodity management and work towards achieving its objectives as stated in the concept. Should this prove to be successful over a 2 or 3 year period, further expansion is envisioned to include:

• Commodity collateralization
• Cool storage facility
• Further market access development i.e. brand building, packaging, etc
• Investments into the community

An innovative warehouse system addresses the loss of income from bulk sale of quality products by farmers to traders during the usual price lump after harvest. A warehouse system affords the farmer safe custody until prices improved, ensures retention of product quality, ensures them credit during the pre-marketing period, improves their marketing.

After a 4-year timeframe, farmers will have a tangible warehouse with efficient commodity management structure and systems. 1,500 farmer families (53% women farmer) or 7,500 household members earn higher income from price-efficient trade, premium price for products, and dividends from AC trade, therefore, reducing poverty and improving living standards. At least 100 jobs added during procurement season. 1,500 trained farmers (53% women and 30% young adults) reduce the cost of inputs.
