Acila Enterprises Ltd.

Acila Enterprises is an agri-enterprise, with its base in the city of Soroti in Uganda. Since 1998, the company has developed two business lines. One is the sourcing from smallholder farmers and own production and sales of cereal grains such as millet, maize and soya beans to large processors in Uganda. Also, our company currently retails a wide range of assorted agro-inputs that include improved seeds, herbicides, pesticides, and fungicides, spray pumps of all types, and other agro-inputs.

Our business idea is two-fold: on the one hand with source cereal grains from smallholder farmers, aggregate and sell to larger buyers in the market. On the other hand, we run a number of agri-input shops in the region, that sell different inputs (such as seeds and others) to farmers in the region.

The business is a limited liability company owned by Solomon and Ruth Okiror who is the Managing Director, and oversees the general business management and decision making. She is supported by a team of senior managers that include the General Manager, Business Development Manager, Agronomist and Quality Assurance Manager. Medium and junior manager included the Production Manager, Retail Sale Manager, Accountant, Field Extension Worker and Company Representatives/Agents.

Our business idea is inclusive because we involve a large number of smallholder farmers (200 groups of around 30 farmers) in our sourcing activities.
