Dr. Nvenakeng Suzanne Awung holds a PhD in Environmental Sciences from the University of York, UK (2016), where she assessed the level of community engagement in the design, implementation and monitoring of Mt. Cameroon National Park REDD+ Conservation Project. Her research interest fosuses on forest governance, tenure security, food security, payment for ecosystem services, REDD+ social safeguards, environmental communication and community forest management. She is an enthusiastic speaker with a strong passion for forest dwellers, advocating for improved livelihood and well-being of local communities. She founded ‘The Forgotten Green Heroes’ (TFGH) in 2013. TFGH ia a non-governmental, non-political and non-profit making organization which seeks to build capacity among forest communities to better engage in decision making about issues that involved them; and to improve and safeguard their livelihoods, well-being and culture.
