About Me

Did you know that indoor air pollution causes 15,000 premature deaths and 6 million respiratory patients, mostly women and children from low income families in Kenya , annually?
This calls for an urgent solution and i have innovated a sustainable, low cost, clean cooking solution.
My name is James Kariuki, founder and product architect at IRDA Ltd.
We are a Kenyan enterprise involved in the development , manufacture and distribution of Bio Moto; a powerful, easy to use, no smoke cooker with a power regulator.
Bio Moto boils a liter of water in 7 minutes compared to 35 minutes it takes to start a charcoal stove and is 25% cheaper to cook with than charcoal fuel. Each cooker is estimated to displace 2 tons carbon emission annually, mitigating climate change.
At scale, 2 million households will switch to Bio Moto leading to improved livelihoods, reduced health complications, fuel cost and cooking time savings that can be used for school work, income generating or development projects.
